The May Programme

Today we’re excited to announce our May MAIA programme!

We’ve curated four incredible weeks of online talks, discussions, workshops and commissions, celebrating and investing in artistry, and helping us all stay in conversation and in community during these times.

Workshops, Talks & Discussions

Tuesday afternoons bring online talks with Artist Campus where we view artists as critical thinkers, knowledge producers, and vital thought leaders. During these accessibly-priced online sessions, we’ll hear from artists from across the world, sharing big ideas and reflections on matters of interest to their practice.

On Wednesdays, (plus a couple of other dates!), join us for our fantastic Work On workshop series, insightful Pay as You Can sessions featuring award-winning practitioners and commissioners sharing from the worlds of visual art, theatre, journalism and film about routes for getting work put on.

Finally, check out our free, open-forum discussions running Thursday afternoons, both for the artistic community and beyond; take your place at our Artist Roundtable or Of the City events where we’ll collectively discuss questions, challenges, themes, and share strategies, collaboratively developing solutions together.

Commissions

We’ve got, not one, but, two fantastic commission opportunities happening this month including the Open Call MAIA commission and the Keep Keeping fund, both go live Monday 4th May.

Plus, with our intriguing Art 30 live event taking place between 15th-16th May, we’re bringing all art lovers an opportunity to get involved and support their artist community in a practical and impactful way; did someone say: 30 hours for 30 mysterious, limited edition pieces of artwork?

MAIA X Maslaha

Finding a space for joy and sanctuary in the midst of a global pandemic may not always be the easiest thing.

In an attempt to reclaim some headspace, we’ve partnered with Maslaha to bring you a weekly series of IGLive sessions, Zoom workshops and Video tutorials exploring processes that may be helpful to create those spaces. We’ve commissioned 4 midlands based artists to share their skills and experiences with you every Friday throughout May starting from the 8th May at noon:

  • Fri 8th May, 12:00 - 12.30: Get to Know Nilupa: Weaving Workshop/ Q+A with Nilupa Yasmin - Instagram Live

  • Fri 15th May, 12:00 - 12:30: Dreaming of a Better World Tutorial: Dreamcatcher Workshop with Glue Collective - IGTV via MAIA
