Exploring how artists live, work, develop and contribute in society. Present and future.
The MAIA Group stems from a vision that sees creativity, enterprise and sustainability entwined and embedded in the very fabric of our culture.
Set up in 2013 as a social enterprise, MAIA want to find ways of:
- supporting emerging artists in running sustainable practice
- helping young people into the world of creative industries & cultural employment
- diversifying the current creative industries landscape - from entry level to leadership - by widening access to marginalised groups
- looking ahead to assess future opportunities and possibilities for artists in civic & enterprising capacities
On noticing many artists struggle to make a livelihood from their work, while many larger organisations lacked the flexibility and aversion to risk innovation required, we set out to facilitate an exchange of ideas, perspectives and opportunities- to ensure that everyone not only has the opportunity to work, but to thrive. where creativity and business can coexist in both boardroom and studio.
With an extensive background working in the arts and creative industries, MAIA provides creative direction, production and project management services for brands and organisations, using the revenue to directly impact the community.
Curating bespoke teams from a network of creative producers, designers, performers, visual practitioners, writers and digital artists, we work with brands and organisations wanting to tell socially relevant stories and engage with diverse audiences. We then produce campaigns, manage projects and devise communication strategies using the innovative practices intrinsic to artistic mediums.

"BBC Radio 1Xtra’s partnership with MAIA was an invaluable component of our campaign in Birmingham. Alongside Beatfreeks, they helped form the backbone of our entire month of workshops and events in the lead up to 1Xtra Live 2014. MAIA were a pleasure to work with directly on our live music nights with Trevor Nelson at the Rainbow Rooms - and provided a wealth of knowledge and genuine passion for the spoken word and live music scene in Birmingham."
